December 96 Bottle Dig

In December of 1996 a construction crew unearthed an old bottle dump in downtown Fort Worth, Texas.
The site is now the location of town homes. Until the constuction covered the site with concrete
and buildings, alot of good old bottles and relics from the early days of Fort Worth
and other Texas places were dug here.

December 29th
Date of Last Hunt: Sunday Dec.29,1996
Length of hunt: 1 hour.
Location Description: A construction site that unearthed an old city dump.
Items Found: 1- 1942 wheat cent.
Euipment used: Shovels, rakes, and sifters.
Comments: Used the sifter the entire hour. Not to impressive today! This hunting site may be drawing to a close unless the construction opens up another good hole.

December 28th
Date of Last Hunt: Saturday Dec.28,1996
Length of hunt: 4.5 Hours.
Location Description: A construction site that unearthed an old city dump.
Items Found: 1- Clay marble, 1- Large brown "Bennington" marble, 1- "shooter" marble, 2-Bottles (1- "Bayer" and 1- plain perfume),
Euipment used: Petzel headlamps, shovels, rakes, and sifters.
Comments: Since the bottles are getting hard to find I have been using the sifter more. These past few weeks have got to be the most hunting I've ever done without using a metal detector!!

December 25th
Date of Last Hunt: Wednesday Dec.25,1996
Length of hunt: 1.5 Hours.
Location Description: A construction site that unearthed an old city dump.
Items Found: 1- "Palmolive" token. (Good for one free cake with purchase of one...)
Euipment used: Petzel headlamps, shovels, rakes, and sifters.
Comments: Since the bottles are getting hard to find I have been using the sifter. Couldn't resist going out today even though it was Christmas. Had to try out the new sifter I built!

Length of hunt: 3 Hours.
Location Description: A construction site that unearthed an old city dump.
Items Found: 1- Clay marble, 1- Glass stopper, 3- buttons 3-Bottles...Heres the breakdown:

  • 1- Plain medical vial (still contains white powder),
  • 1- Plain medical (1 3/4" square),
    • Euipment used: Petzel headlamps, shovels, rakes, and sifters.
    Comments: Since the bottles are getting hard to find I have been using the sifter more.

  • 1- Dr. C.H. Tichenor's "Antiseptic Refrigerant",
